The purpose of the second workshop was to:

• Review what will be covered in each Workshop
• Reflect on individual progress
• Introduction to using PDAs for content delivery
• Use video recorder, spyglasses and digital camera to video a task
• Create instructional movie by editing video using Movie Maker

Reflection

With this project we are encouraged to use a reflective learning practise as part of the professional development. Studies indicate that it is not sufficient to have an experience in order to learn. It is necessary to reflect on the experience to make generalizations and formulate concepts which can then be applied to new situations.

Snowball activity

Each participant was asked to write a question(s) on a piece of paper relating to the first workshop on:

1. Anything you felt confused about
2. Needed clarifyied
3. Wanted more information on
4. Can not see the relevance of how it connects to what you want to achieve

This activity was done at the start of this workshop. All questions were gathered together and participants were encouraged to answer the questions.

More "hands on" time to explore and use the PDAs More information on databases and why the database More ability to put files onto PDAs and to make the most of the visual aspects of the PDAs "How to" transfer files from computer to PDA and from PDA to computer How come what you want to have on the PDA, as a database, involves so much time and thought? More time to clarify/decide on the design aspects of the database Word documents on how to sync PDA with computer - so I can remember how to do this I want to learn how to set up a website similar to what we are using so I can use for my students

Insufficient time allocated to fully gain skills required so group decided that they need to organise additional PD funded by their section - decided they want to meet once a week on a Thursday afternoon to gain more skills in PDAs, wikis etc (booked a PD session for Thursday 10 May, 3-5 pm) Also some participants highlighted the fact that they benefit more by one-on-one tutitions so need to investigate the possibility of a "help desk" type scenario "How to" documentation has already been organised - Frances in the process of creating - will be online and pdf format to download May need to make next workshop full day rather than half day to address issues with learning how to use the database and realise why it is needed. Also will apply for further funding. (Want to book SAL road test for a Thursday 3-5 pm)

Reflective Journal
At the end of the day each participant was given a reflective journal. You can download a copy of the here! Click here to complete the reflective journal online. Studies have shown that reflection upon one’s learning is key to a full learning experience. For this reason, each participant will be required to keep reflective journals as part of their professional development. There are two different Reflective Journal templates.

• Workshop Reflection – to be completed after attendance of each one day of workshop

• Technology Reflection – to be competed after using the technology in your work practises. Participants are required to integrate at least two new skills into their work practises after each one day of workshop attendance.
